Is it? I thought it'd be pretty easy seeing how easy it is to get a job here. It's too bad if housing's more complicated.

[That sounds a lot more like being back home, but not exactly in a good way.]

At least you can take today off. It's important to have a good time on your birthday.

Yeah, at least there's more work here than it would be for us back home. We come from a pretty small and closed-off town, and when new people do arrive, we would just build a new house for them.

[ It probably is still easier to get a house here than in other places, but for the Encanto, it's a lot more difficult. ]

Wow. And I thought my town was closed off. It's not that easy to get to unless you take a ferry, but if someone who's moving in is rich enough to get a new home instead of moving into something already for sale it's not like it's hard to hire a building firm.

[Realistically most people would just rent or buy something that was built already.]

Yeah, it's a bit tough to get to the Encanto because it's surrounded by mountains. Though it might be a little easier now, at least at the time I left.

[ What with the now giant crack in the mountain. ]

So are there a lot of available houses already built in your hometown?

I think there are in most Canadian towns. Powell Lake was founded in like the 1900s or 10s, so there's been lots of time to build it up.

You probably wouldn't build a whole new house unless you had a lot of money.

That's pretty cool. It's probably more convenient that there are houses available for people when they arrive.

Being able to build a house for someone when they arrive is nice, but that means they have to wait a bit until it's finished before they have a place to settle in.

Yeah. I guess so. I guess it's something I've always taken for granted.

If you build your own house that seems like it's more of a luxury even.

Well, I guess it does make it easier to include everything you need if you're building your own house.

[ Not that most of the townspeople's houses were really all that big, but the option did sound nice. ]

I think that's why some people prefer it even when there's already plenty to choose from.

I'm sure you'll find somewhere good enough without needing to go that far though.

[One thing life on the road's taught him is that you can make just about any space work for you if you really have to.]
